Summary:

The best kinds of love stories don’t follow a script.

Millions of people witnessed Emma Taylor’s first kiss—a kiss that needed twelve takes and four camera angles to get right. After spending nearly all of her teen years performing on cue, Emma wonders if any part of her life is real anymore . . . particularly her relationships.

Jake Elliott’s face is on magazine ads around the world, but his lucrative modeling deals were a poor substitute for what he had to leave behind. Now acting is offering Jake everything he wants: close proximity to home; an opportunity to finally start school; and plenty of time with the smart and irresistible Emma Taylor . . . if she would just give him a chance.

When Jake takes Emma behind the scenes of his real life, she begins to see how genuine he is, but on-set relationships always end badly. Don’t they? Toss in Hollywood’s most notorious heartthrob and a resident diva who may or may not be as evil as she seems, and the production of Coyote Hills heats up in unexpected—and romantic—ways.

My Thoughts:

An Open Letter To Not In The Script,

Hey there book. You were a breath of fresh air on lots of fronts for me and you can count me as one of your fans. I liked how you humanized celebrities. So many books focus on the glamor and excitement of fame, and while you dabbled in that, at your heart you showed us what it's really like to be in the public eye, while still being hilarious. I like hilarious and I like real and you are both of those things, so, like I said before, I'm a fan.

-The White Unicorn

I'll just come right out and say it, I'm a big fan of Finnegan's debut. As we all know, I'm very picky with my YA Contemporary Romance novels, but this happens to be one of my favorite romances of the year. Not in the Script is everything a book like it should be. It's sweet, it's snarky and it's got issues that you can see coming from miles away. It's good mindless fun, but Finnegan also manages to do something that a lot of books that deal with fame and TV miss out on. She humanizes the business in a way that I think is very important. It gives the novel an extra edge that takes all the typical romance tropes and makes it mean a little something more than usual.

I love books that follow things that I know about and even though I can't say that I know about how a TV show is put together, I can tell you that I know a thing or two about acting and the way that the people you act with become a kind of family. A messy, messed up family, but a family none the less. Finnegan gets this and ends up throwing a group of people together that don't seem like they'd be friends in real life, but over the course of the book, things change. She really understood this and I could feel the sincerity in the characters interactions, no matter what they were. I guess you could say that's why I liked the book as a whole: it's sincere.

Emma and Jake are adorable together and I loved watching their relationship develop in such a stress inducing setting. All the lies from the media and the lies from the cast members and everything sometimes felt like they were a bit much, but it didn't affect my enjoyment level. It's interesting to see what Emma ends up doing for everyone around her. Good things happen wherever she goes, but it was also awesome to see her start to figure out that she needed to worry about herself as well and make her own life as good as the ones the people around her were living.

Over all I adored all the characters. Brett was a tool bag, but he was tool bag that was likable. Maybe not someone you should trust, maybe not someone you should make your best friend, but he was likable. Kimmi was the diva, but yet she still had her good points. Jake is extremely layered and has so many things going for him. I even liked the parental characters and I loved that Finnegan decided to make them such a big part of the story. I'm always a fan of books that don't forget that someone had to give birth to the characters inside of them.

All in all Not in the Script is the perfect rom/com and I highly suggest it to anyone who wants a romance that they can cheer for!

Amy's Top Ten TV Couples!

Clark and Lana, Smallville: I used to be so addicted to this show that I wrote two novel-length fanfiction stories about it. They were over 100,000 words each and had readers from all over the world checking in daily for new chapters . . . all rabid fans of Clark and Lana’s epic romance that, according to Superman cannon, was destined to fail. Were we all just suckers, or what? But year after year on that show, those who shipped “Clana” had high hopes for a break from tradition, even after Lois joined the show (for me, it was especially after Lois came along). Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk had mad chemistry, though, from the innocent longing of the first few seasons, to the more grown-up episodes to come. Young Clark Kent was often more super-awkward around Lana than super-powered, and that’s why this relationship drew me in from the beginning. I still miss them together. So forget Superman cannon, Clark belongs with his first love (And if she doesn’t get him, then I do).

Chuck and Sarah, Chuck: Why do all the best shows get cancelled, huh? Four-and-a-half seasons wasn’t nearly enough (I still can’t decide if I’m ticked off that NBC only ordered thirteen episodes for the last season, or if I should be grateful that they gave us about fifty more episodes than they wanted to!). Anyway, I loved Chuck and Sarah together. He was a mere Nerd Herd techie when he was pulled into the crazy and dangerous world of international spies, and Sarah became his kick-butt handler. The evolution of their relationship was so entertaining and sincere that it was impossible not to fall in love right along with them! And the rest of the cast was just as adorable (Captain Awesome needs his own spinoff!!).

Jim and Pam, The Office: I’ve never been so thrilled to be a voyeur. Because of the mockumentary style of the production, I felt like I had a front row seat for watching two real people fall in love. Deep love. I met my own husband while working in a corporate office environment, so I totally related to the cute and almost always awkward ways in which two people can find excuses to go the desk of the other . . . and flirt (discuss business, I mean!) Like, all day long. Another cool thing about Jim and Pam is that even after they finally figured stuff out, it didn’t dampen their chemistry one bit. It just became more fun, watching them build a life together.

Rory and Logan, Gilmore Girls: In my opinion, Logan was the only love interest for either Gilmore girl who could match their wit. He could dish out the snark just as quickly as they could, and serve it with a side of swoon. Logan and Rory’s conversations were often the epitome of how to write entertaining banter between characters, and I’d frequently rewind scenes so I could hear every word all over again. My only complaint? Um . . . I’m in desperate need of a seven-years-later epilogue. The CW better get to work on that, or I’ll have to write an epilogue myself.

Buffy and Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: This is what you call a serious conflict of interest. Buffy’s job was to slay vampires, so her attraction to fanged heartthrob, Angel, was a bit of a dilemma—especially after a certain point in the series when it seemed inevitable that Buffy would literally have to stake her claim. You know that scene after Angel lost his “soul,” and Buffy had him tied up and had to make the most important decision of her life? Yeah, I cried like a blubbering baby. But the amazing thing about this show was that Buffy was such an amazing character that I really liked her with just about any love interest they paired her with. Even Spike! (Note: if you binge-watch Buffy, which you really should, resist the urge to judge the rest of the series by the first season. In the beginning, the special effects are nearly unbearable.)

Ross and Rachel, Friends: Is there a more famous couple in all of sitcom history? I think not. Their relationship was definitely epic in all of the best ways. They were star-crossed lovers for ten years, and the best thing about their storyline is that whenever they broke up, it all felt believable. And whenever they got back together, it was also believable. That’s an incredibly difficult feat to pull off in a sitcom that was, at its core, chock-full of slapstick antics. I miss this show!

Matthew and Mary, Downton Abbey: Nooooooooo!!!!!! Whyyyyyyyyyy?!?!?!?! How could you do this to me?!?!?!?!?! That’s all I’m going to say.

Chuck and Blair, Gossip Girl: I’m picking these two because they provided nonstop entertainment whenever they were in scenes together. They loved hard and they hated hard, and there was never really anything in between. They belonged together more than any other couple on the show, because no one else deserved to be with either of them. If you watched Gossip Girl, you’ll know that this is a compliment to everyone else. ;)

Mary and Francis, Reign: When these two are given good scenes, they’re the hottest couple on current television. But . . . Reign happens to be on the CW, so all too often, completely stupid and unbelievable obstacles interrupt their adorable flirting. Just stop it. Let them be happy. One more thing about the show itself: As crazy as it gets sometimes, the drama is nothing compared to what the actual Mary, Queen of Scots went through. You can’t make that stuff up! But if you don’t know how her story went in real life, and you watch Reign, do not look up her history. Just watch the show unfold. It will be interesting to see how closely they follow actual events. They’re dealing with one of the most interesting royals in history, so there certainly isn’t any reason for embellishment!

Robin and Marian, The BBC’s Robin Hood: Next to Clark and Lana, these two are my next favorite TV couple! I used to sit on the edge of my seat, hoping for a scene between them. This is another series to binge-watch that I’m guessing very few of you have seen. And the last scene of this series . . . guys, I was BLOWN AWAY! It was some of the most powerful few minutes I’ve ever watched on TV. Jonas Armstrong is one of the most charming, comedic, underrated actors of our day, and he’s absolutely irresistible as Robin Hood! And his sweetheart Marian is certainly no damsel in distress. This couple’s relationship was the perfect mix of sugar and spice, and I’m betting I could get just about any romantic to watch the series after they see this fan-made (and free of any major spoilers!) video featuring Robin and Marian: Accidentally in Love. Enjoy!

Author: Jen McConnel

Date Published: December 19th, 2013
Publisher: Bloomsbury Spark
Format Read: eBook provided by author for honest review

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

Lou is in the middle of a quarter-life crisis. Fresh out of college, she’s unemployed and unsure of herself. But when she gets the chance to escape to Scotland with her best friend, it could be the answer to her quest for self-discovery. The trip is not at all what she expected, especially when her tour guide turns out to be the dreamy historian Brian, and together they embark on a hunt for information about Isobel Key, a woman accused of witchcraft in the seventeenth century.

They set out to learn the truth of the condemned witch, but Lou isn’t prepared for the knowledge that awaits her. She must face her own demons if she has any hope of righting the wrongs of the past.

Flashing between seventeenth century Scotland and a contemporary romance, THE SECRET OF ISOBEL KEY is a mystery that will please readers of all ages.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Thoughts:

An Open Letter To The Secret of Isobel Key,

You were actually a lot cooler then I was expecting, which is a good thing.  I liked that you were a quick read that came together rather nicely, and that you still kept me guessing a bit.  I also enjoyed the fact that I've been to most of the places that you talked about in Scotland, it made reading you more personal.  It also gave me a mad case of wanderlust, so my wallet thanks you for that.  Also I'd like to thank you for some snarky characters.  You can never go wrong there.  On top of that, thanks for not having crazy, explicit sex in your pages and keeping the romance sweet!  Overall, you were a pleasant reading experience, so that's something to be proud about.

-The White Unicorn

So, going into TSOIK, I didn't know what to expect, but I'm happy with what I got.  McConnel did her work and it shows in the details.  The book itself flips back and forth between a modern setting and a time when people actually burned witches (aka the seventeenth century)  She manages to give us folklore, history and an overall feeling of a genuine Scotland feel.  It makes reading the book feel like you're on this grand adventure with Lou and Tammy, not just watching it happen.

The story seems simple at first.  Lou quits her job and next thing she knows she's on a plane with her best friend headed to Scotland for the holidays.  But then we see flashes of a woman, a long dead woman known as Isobel Key.  The chapters swap between Lou and Isobel, bringing the full picture together in the end of the novel.  McConnel does a good job of keeping the puzzle pieces separated enough so that you can't guess everything about the mystery.  Sure, some things aren't that surprising when they come to light, but the story telling keeps some pretty big things under wraps till the right time.

Lou was a fun main character.  She's snarky, she's unsure of her life and she's pretty darn lost.  All in all, she was just really honest.  Yes, there were times that I just wanted to tell her to get her stuff together, but I think we have either all been where she's at or we will get there at some point.  Let's just say that she's a quirky one and that she's into some pretty strange stuff that ends up propelling the story.

Tammy was an odd ball.  The fact that these two are best pals seems off at first, but as the story progresses it all starts to make sense.  She's a little more crass and confident and their dynamic works.  I also liked that even though TSOIK had a romance arc, McConnel also focused on the gal pal aspect of the novel.  Tammy and Lou's friendship was just as important as Lou's romance with Brian.  Speaking of Brian, he was delightful leading man and added just the right dash of dashing.  He's a foxy, sweet, red headed hunk.  What more could you want?

There isn't much more I can say about the book without giving away plot points.  And who wants to read a review that spoils all the things?  I know I wouldn't want that.  So, this is where my review ends.  Just know that if you give this NA novel a try you'll most likely enjoy it and all of it's world traveling, witch burning and self finding!

[Blog Tour: Unhinged by A.G. Howard / Guest Post / Giveaway]

I'm super excited to be a part of Rockstar Book Tours and Amulet Book blog tour for A.G. Howard's newest Wonderland adventure.  A.G. is a class lady and a fantastic author and it's a pleasure to host her and her new book "Unhinged" today.  As a fan of The Moth himself, I'm also stoked for this post!  So get ready for the details people!

Summary:

Alyssa Gardner has been down the rabbit hole and faced the bandersnatch. She saved the life of Jeb, the guy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly seductive Morpheus and the vindictive Queen Red. Now all she has to do is graduate high school and make it through prom so she can attend the prestigious art school in London she's always dreamed of.

That would be easier without her mother, freshly released from an asylum, acting overly protective and suspicious. And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn’t show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland—where she (partly) belongs.

As prom and graduation creep closer, Alyssa juggles Morpheus’s unsettling presence in her real world with trying to tell Jeb the truth about a past he’s forgotten. Glimpses of Wonderland start to bleed through her art and into her world in very disturbing ways, and Morpheus warns that Queen Red won’t be far behind.

If Alyssa stays in the human realm, she could endanger Jeb, her parents, and everyone she loves. But if she steps through the rabbit hole again, she'll face a deadly battle that could cost more than just her head.

About The Author:

A.G. Howard was inspired to write SPLINTERED while working at a school library. She always wondered what would've happened had the subtle creepiness of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland taken center stage, and she hopes her darker and funkier tribute to Carroll will inspire readers to seek out the stories that won her heart as a child.

When she's not writing, A.G.'s pastimes are reading, rollerblading, gardening, and family vacations which often include impromptu side trips to 18th century graveyards or condemned schoolhouses to appease her overactive muse.

To kick off the thrills and chills, Morpheus dropped off a creepy excerpt from Unhinged to share with you. If you’re Coulrophobic, you might want to grab your blanky. And if you’re not, at least you’ll know what the term means by the end of this post.

*****
Sunlight dapples the floor through the hopper window, but the bathroom is gray and still. Today the bugs have been relentless in their whispers, as if the cricket from last night is leading them on a revolt:

They’re here, Alyssa. They don’t belong . . . send them back.

I lean against the sink. “Who?” I whisper aloud, frustrated with the obscure warnings.
As I’m waiting for a response, I hear a rustle inside one of the half-closed stalls. I inhale a startled breath and lean down to look under the metal door, careful not to let my hair touch the damp floor.

“Is someone there?”

No answer. Steeling myself, I swing the door open.

A gurgling hiss greets me along with the distorted face of the clown. It’s toy size again and standing on the toilet lid. I screech and stumble back, tripping over my backpack. My elbow knocks the paper towel dispenser open. Squares of brown paper flutter down all around me.

Hopping to the floor, the demented toy scurries after me, razor-sharp teeth bared and snapping. One of its shoes slips on the paper towels and it falls. It crawls toward me instead, never slowing. Heart pounding, I look around for something to use as a weapon—to protect myself from that snarling mouth…

Guys I was excited when I got the chance to be a part of Jordyn and the Caverns of Gloom tour!  I really really liked the first book in the series, simply titled Jordyn and I couldn't wait to see what Tiffany had for us fans in the next installment.  Needless to say, I enjoyed the book and even gave it a 4 unicorn rating!  So, what I'm saying is that you should check this little series out when you have the time!

My Character Interview With Jordyn:
(So I was really excited when I got to sit down and have a chat with the main character of The Daemon Hunter novels herself.  She clues us in to a few of the things that may or may not be coming for us in the next installment and tells us more about the men in her life!)

So Jordyn, on your 5 weeks off on your own, what was your favorite place that you visited?

After everything that happened, I needed to get away to think. I wasn't traveling to site-see. I wanted solace. The beaches in Costa Rica are absolutely mesmerizing. Soft sand with crystal blue warm water. Anyone could lose themselves there like I did.

I just have to ask, can you give us some more details about Anthony?  I mean we know he can create a killer tattoo, but what else can you tell us?

Anthony is a big dude—I mean, big, but gentle as a teddy bear. We're really still getting to know each other. Anthony is one of those don't ask don't tell types of guys. Very private. If you went to party, he'd be the guy in the corner just observing, but not in a creepy way. Because of his size, and how quiet he is, he looks like someone of great importance that you would feel uncomfortable approaching.

Okay, so you get back home and everything is different.  What were your first thoughts on Boon?  He seems like a cool kid.

Boon is way cool. He and I hit it off immediately. Anyone that likes to cut it up a little like he does is okay in my book. It breaks my heart though to think about what Boon had to endure from his father. I have this fantasy that I would like to find his dad and break everyone of his fingers one by one. You don't know how hard it is for me to not actually go do it. At least Boon is in a good place now.

Training, it sounds like it was a bitch, what's the worst injury you've ever gotten?

The worst pain I've endured came when Kale grabbed me and literally burned my skin away to the bone. Then I had to endure the same pain again from Emrys during training. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have an arch angel to heal your injuries. Which by the way, it's freaky to watch your skin growing back right before your eyes.

Can you tell us why you get all mushy inside when Emrys' kisses you?
That jerk can only do that to me because of his abilities. I mean, he is a Soul Trader. They have a way of making people agreeable if you know what I mean. Of course, his looks, hot bod, and that tantalizing tattoo don't hurt. I can't tell him that though. His ego is big enough already.

Speaking of Emrys... tell us something that none of us know about him...

He visits his dead father's grave for every holiday. There is still a lot about Emrys's past I don't know. For some reason, he blames himself for his father's passing. It's like Emrys feels like he is paying for his own past sins by visiting his father's grave.

Do you know where you're going to end up in book three?  Give us a little inside scoop, if you can?

I would like to find out more about the girl whose body I took over when she passed away. Whether or not that happens, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

-Goodreads
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Thoughts:

Well, I never would have guessed that I would ever end up reading a New Adult, Sci-Fi, love story, but here I am, writing this review.  Okay, so The Apollo Academy wasn't only a love story, it actually has a lot of other things going on, but the love was definitely there.  And let me just say that the guys were pretty, well, they were pretty...

This book had a lot of awesome put into it.  Did I think it was perfect?  To be honest, I didn't, but that didn't keep me from really liking what was put in front of my face.  I think that the "is someone trying to kill me" plot was the most exciting part for me.  Though it may have wrapped up a little to easily for me, but that's because it's really hard to surprise me.  But that being said, it kept me on the edge of my seat.  Plus, the setting was already incredibly dangerous and foreign, so the fact that someone was trying to kill Aurora just added to that feeling.

Chase created a really interesting future world for us to live in.  Not only did she explore the future but she also hinted at space ventures from the past.  Even the title of the book and the academy it hints at are based on the failed Apollo 1 launch, which killed all three pilots on board.  I have to hand it to her for adding space launch history into her futuristic story.  She bended the rules of space travel, genetics and the world as we know them and part of you just had to go with the things that made Chase's futuristic world work.  Lets just say that Sheldon Cooper might have had some issues, but when doesn't he?  (If you know who that is and what I'm referring to, we should be friends)  But once you just went with it and enjoyed the world presented, it's awesome!  The training missions were good, exciting fun!

This book is also told from 3 POVs.  It's one of those things that could be too much, but I think that it worked here.  We get to see things through, who I think our main character is, Aurora's eyes.  But we also get to see glimpses into the lives of our two guys, student Zane and astronaut Skye.  I actually enjoyed reading from the view point of the guys more, and Skye's voice probably took the cake for me.

Let's talk about the characters.  Aurora was cool.  She was tiny and kinda badass and worked really hard for what she wanted.  Those are all things that I respect, but for some reason she wasn't my favorite.  I can see her being a favorite of a lot of other people though.  I respect her, I just didn't love her.  Zane was your mysterious guy.  I liked him.  He was really interesting and I wanted to know more about him.  He's one of the biggest reasons that I'll be picking up the next book.  And Skye, well Skye has me really intrigued.  He's got issues, but in all honesty all three of our leads do.

The love triangle was little weird for me.  It seemed like a bunch of friends with crushes on each other and a girl who didn't know what to do with herself when she was given any amount of attention.  But the rest of the book was awesome enough that it didn't really affect my reading experience.

I did really love the friendship between Aurora and her best friend Kaylana.  I was glad that Chase decided to add a really legit female friendship into the mix.  Kaylana and Aurora had their issues, but I felt like their friendship was one of the pieces of double stick tape that kept this book together!

So, even though this book wasn't perfect, I had a good time digging into the world that Chase created.  It's a nice New Adult novel that would be fine even for a younger audience.  Which I think is also a plus for this novel!

-------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

Terror strikes the Celtic inspired kingdom of Nemetona when barbed roots breach the veil of a forbidden land and poison woodsmen, including 15-year-old Lia’s beloved father. Lia and three others embark on a quest to the forbidden land of Brume to gather ingredients for the cure. But after her elder kinsman is attacked and poisoned, she and her cousin, Wynn, are forced to finish the quest on their own.

Lia relies on her powerful herbal wisdom and the memorized pages of her late grandmother’s Grimoire for guidance through a land of soul-hungry shades, trickster creatures, and uncovered truths about the origin of Brume and her family’s unexpected ties to it. The deeper they trek into the land, the stronger Lia’s untapped gift as a tree mage unfolds. When she discovers the enchanted root’s maker, it forces her to question everything about who she is and what is her destiny. Ultimately she must make a terrible choice: keep fighting to save her father and the people of the lands or join with the power behind the deadly roots to help nature start anew.

My Thoughts:

Arrow of the Mist was an entertaining, quick and well thought out beginning to, what I think, will be an awesome series!  Mercer has a way of working her words in a simple yet interesting way.  Her pacing is wonderful and the story is action packed from beginning to end.  On top of that she has worked together some really interesting characters.

I loved that this book was rooted in Celtic history, though it takes a turn into a fantasy realm, you never really lose the history of the people that the story surrounds.  I found it refreshing.  Speaking of Mercer's fantasy realm, I loved all of the aspects that she wove into her story.  There were wondrous creatures that I had never heard of and others like dwarfs, unicorns, water nymphs and faeries.  Even the creatures that we all know were re imagined in some really spectacular ways.  I enjoyed the fact that I knew what the creatures were, but that Mercer was giving all of them a fresh face.

Arrow of the Mist is also riddled with riddles taken out of Lia's grandma's Grimoire.  Magic plays a key role in the world building of the story and Mercer also gives that aspect a make over.  The mystery elements were hidden inside of the riddles, which was fun.  She rooted it in a realistic world while also letting the magic do its own thing.  Can you tell that I was obsessed with the world building in this book yet?  Because I totally was!  It was dark and evil and light and beautiful all at the same time.  As soon as you step into the land of Brume anything goes and Mercer used that to her advantage!

The characters were also a lot of fun to read about.  Lia is a strong female lead, who also isn't afraid to show us her weaknesses!  I'm a huge fan of main characters like that.  Not only is the book a action packed fantasy story, it's also Lia's coming of age story.  And trust me, she comes back to her home land a completely different person.  The unfolding of her tree mage powers was also fascinating to watch.  Though there is a hunky love interest by the name of Kelvin, he isn't used in much of the novel.  Which I thought was kind of awesome.  You know he's there, but the story focuses on Lia and her cousin Wynn.  Speaking of Wynn, he was pretty amazing himself.  I couldn't have wished for a better partner in crime for Lia.  Reading a book that centered on family was a nice change of pace for me.

Mercer's use of animals and plant life in Arrow of the Mist also brought a certain life to the book.  Hounds, bees, horses and a slew of plant life play a large role in the book and she gave them all the right amount of personality!

All in all I have to say that Mercer has written a solid first novel.  Though I do have to get up on my soap box for second and let you know that I thought that the ending was way to abrupt.  It almost felt like it cut off in the middle of a paragraph to me.  But, that being said I'll be sitting here waiting to see what happens next in book 2!

Rating:
4 Unicorns = Close to perfect!

[Blog Tour: Always Remember by Emma Hart. Review/Guest Post/Giveaway]

When I had the chance to hop on the blog tour for Always Remember, I knew that I had to take it.  I've been reading the Memories series by my author pal Emma Hart and this is it's conclusion.  Jen and Bing (I mean Samuel) are my two favorite characters in the series, so I was excited to see that this is their love story.  I was excited to see what ended up happening between them.  Let's get on to the book, shall we?

Author: Emma Hart
Series: Memories #2
Pages: ?
Genre: Mature YA, NA, Contemporary
Date Published: May 13th, 2013
Publisher: Self Published
Format Read: eARC provided by author for honest review

-----------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

How long does it take for a long-distance relationship to break down? Sixteen months.
When Jen and Carl put their relationship to rest after Christmas, Jen’s biggest problem is going back to London ten days earlier than planned – and her ever-present attraction to Samuel ‘Bing’ Edwards.
Bing has no idea why Jen left Devon so fast. All he knows is that he wants her as much as he did the first day he laid eyes on her – so spending time with her while Lexy is still in Devon isn’t exactly a hardship for him. When he finds out she’s single, the only thing on his mind is finishing what they started at his dad’s fiftieth birthday party.
Feelings that have been a long time building between the two explode, and they both find themselves sucked into an easy yet passionate relationship, with Bing determined to prove to Jen that she’s it for him. That she is The One.
But in a city like London, the odds are stacked against them, and there’s always that one person ready to stir things up… And Jen doesn’t know how much of that she can take – even for the guy she loves more deeply than she ever imagined, and eventually she breaks.
Bing isn’t down with that. He wants Jen, and he wants her by his side for good.

Jennifer Mason must learn that Samuel Edwards doesn’t do giving up. Especially not when his forever girl is involved.

My Thoughts:

I was excited to dig into Always Remember, primarily because it was going to be all about Jen and Bing.  They have been some of my favorite characters in this series ever since Never Forget and I was so excited to see what Emma Hart had in store for these two.

These kids are two of the snarkiest and funniest/rudest people out there.  There is something completely hilarious about how Jen and Bing interact that will always put a smile on my face.  They both swear like sailors and they both are complete wrecks, but that, oddly is a large part of their charm.  I just love watching these two do their thing.  Add in some familiar faces from the other two books in the series and you get to watch them interact with even more people.  Which is always a good time!

I do feel like the conflict that was brought up in this book wasn't extremely strong.  It tried to be, but it just didn't stand out to me.  I didn't know what I thought the conflict would be, but I thought it would be more than a bleach blonde who is still hung up on Bing.  Hart had such a touching conflict in her first novel and female getting in the way of Jen and Bing just didn't really cut it for me.

I will state right here that this book is the steamiest out of all of the Memories series.  Meaning that it's pretty dang steamy.  In a way I thought that it might have focused on the sex a little too much.  Yes the sex filled banter is funny between Bing and Jen, but it's the moments when that isn't really in the forefront that these characters shine.

I won't tell you what happens in the end, but I thought that it was perfect for the story and I liked how Granny snuck back in to the story, even if it was in a little way.  All in all this was a great way to end a fun NA series!

3 Unicorns = I liked it a lot but it had it's issues!

Guest Post With Emma Hart About Her Favorite British Things!

  1. Fish and chips. You’ve never had it until you’ve had it from a chip shop and eaten it on the seafront. Blackpool is the best place for that!
  2. Stick of rock. For those of you not familiar with the wonderful thing that is a stick of rock – it’s a hard candy that comes in bright colours and patterns, and also has words running through the middle of the stick. It’s a seaside thing, and they usually have the place name in the middle!
  3. Roast dinner. British roast dinners win hands down. Nowhere does them like we do. And we have…
  4. Yorkshire pudding. It’s not actually a pudding, but something so yum it should have its own spot. It goes with a roast dinner, so if you don’t know it, go and Google a recipe and MAKE IT IMMEDIATELY.
  5. London. I’ve only been once – something I hope to rectify soon – but thanks to a wrong turn we ended up travelling through the city center and I loved it.
  6. “Bloody hell!” – as in the saying. I say it way too much…
  7. The weather. Because when all else fails, we Brits love to discuss the weather.
