[Top Ten Tuesday: The Books I Want To Be Written]

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly linkup hosted by The Broke And The Bookish!

This week, we've been asked to put together a reading wishlist!  I love stuff like this, it makes you use your imagination and it gives you a chance to tell people what kind of books that you'd actually like to read.  Sure the books that are already out there are great and what not, but sometimes there are a few things that you'd like to see that aren't as mainstream as vampire novels.  So here is my list with gifs!

1. A gal pal comedy.  No not a dramady, but a full fledged comedy that is laugh out loud funny featuring two or three girls who take over the world with their amazingly funny antics.
* parks and recreation amy poehler leslie knope rashida jones ben wyatt adam scott ann perkins leslie knope is a harry potter girl

2. A book featuring a unicorn as one of it's main characters.  I don't know what this would look like, but I want it to happen.

3. More books about World War 2 that will make me weep buckets of tears.  I'm not picky as to what they are about, but they better make me cry, dangit!

4. I want to know what happened to Penny Lane after she got on that plain to Morocco at the end of Almost Famous.  Someone should write that and if they don't want to, I will!

5. Give me more girls pretending to be boys and getting in awkward situations.  Think Mulan and She's the Man and other such things.  It always makes for funny moments and people seemingly falling for the wrong person.  I'd like to see a girl in an all boys boarding school or something.

6. More YA books set in the 1950s.  I think it's an underused time era in YA lit.  Give us Greasers and Audreys and kick ass classic cars!
and, audrey hepburn, beautiful, belong, breakfast at tiffanys

7. Books about girls who travel the world by themselves.  Basically, give me Monte Carlo in book form!

8. A Sleeping Beauty retelling where the princesses actually have a say in what happens and people don't keep her in the dark about the whole spindle thing.  I mean come on, if they would have told her, she could have stood a chance.

9. Two words.  Musical Theater.  Where are all the books about musical theater?!

Well there's my list!  What's on yours?  I wanna know.  Leave your link below or tell me in the comments!

Pretty much a big fat YES to all of these. Would love to see a gal pal comedy and girls traveling the world (still need to watch Monte Carlo).

PS: The Burning Sky has a great girl-pretening-to-be-a-boy-thing gong on (loved this book) and
The Reece Malcolm List has a pretty big musical theatre element.

I like the idea of girls pretending to be guys and I can see tons of different ways that could play out!

I am dying over your Harry Potter gif!

OMG - unicorns & girl time - yes please!! & as far as #5 goes - have you read Defy? It's actually similar to Mulan so I think you might like it!

I would love to know what happened to Penny Lane! I love that movie so much. Also, so yes to a female, funny-buddy book. I would love that. Like Nicole said, I loved The Reese Malcolm List and does have a fun musical theater element. Great list!

Good list! I've seen unicorns on a few lists today; clearly it's time someone wrote about them as more than secondary characters or objects to be hunted or protected. We've had just about every other paranormal/fantasy creature! (There is The Last Unicorn, of course - and have you read Mary Brown's The Unlikely Ones?)

Your list is perfection! I would totally read a book about a unicorn. I also need more Amy Poehler in fiction form. A Penny Lane story & the 1950's are great ideas too! I could always use more historical fiction. :)

Ooh, the 1950s could be so fun! A retelling of BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S would be great. And speaking of Audrey Hepburn, I'd love retellings of MY FAIR HOLIDAY and THE ROMAN HOLIDAY, too. They'd be good books, if done well. Thanks for stopping by!

Great list! OMG I want a Mulan style book. Defy is one that sounds similar and as soon as I saw it I downloaded it. Plus I loved She's the Man too, I think a story like that would make for one hilarious book. Great picks :)

My TTT :)

Oops I commented on the wrong post...I was very excited about the second item on your list re: unicorns, and I see that someone above has already mentioned The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle (which is amazing!).

Oh god, the gifs done me in, haha. But totally agree with you, especially #7, they're always fun to watch, just as fun to read. :)
