Summary:
Mindy Kaling has lived
many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid
chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating
Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and
actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with
the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear
I’ll shut up about it?”
Perhaps you want to know what Mindy thinks makes a great best friend (someone who will fill your prescription in the middle of the night), or what makes a great guy (one who is aware of all elderly people in any room at any time and acts accordingly), or what is the perfect amount of fame (so famous you can never get convicted of murder in a court of law), or how to maintain a trim figure (you will not find that information in these pages). If so, you’ve come to the right book, mostly!
In Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, Mindy invites readers on a tour of her life and her unscientific observations on romance, friendship, and Hollywood, with several conveniently placed stopping points for you to run errands and make phone calls. Mindy Kaling really is just a Girl Next Door—not so much literally anywhere in the continental United States, but definitely if you live in India or Sri Lanka

My Thoughts:
This
book was like a delightful, ridiculous, yet legit talk with a good
friend! Mindy Kaling is hilarious in so many ways, but it's her beyond
honest voice that makes this such a gem (other then all of the name
changing she does, I'm not sure that's honest...) We've seen Mindy on
shows like The Office (which she talks about in the book and The Mindy
Project (which she alludes to), but you don't know a person well until
you read about that time when they got picked on by some dude.
Well in all honesty you don't really know her any better after reading this book, cause you don't actually know her. Ok, so some of you might actually know her and if you do I think you might be lucky?
Anyways Mindy's honest, yet funny look at her life was brilliant! I mean I finally figured out what an Irish exit was (so thanks for that Mindy) and had her finally define what a "hook up" was. She also has this great way of making fun of herself and everyone else without making you want to hate her. Honestly guys, that is a fine line which only a few people can actually pull off. It's kinda like tight rope walking, but not.
So girls and brave men of the world (the book is mostly pink after all) if you want a really awesome read that will have you laughing out loud at some really politically incorrect statements and awesome encouraging words all in one breath go and read "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?"
