[Waiting On Wednesday: A Wicked Thing]

Waiting On Wednesday happens every week on Wednesdays (hence the name) and is hosted by Breaking The Spine.  It's were people talk about the books they want to read about that aren't out yet.

My pick this week is...

"A Wicked Thing"
Author: Rhiannon Thomas
Release Date: February 24th, 2015

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

Rhiannon Thomas's dazzling debut novel is a spellbinding reimagining of what happens after happily ever after.

One hundred years after falling asleep, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince and a broken kingdom that has been dreaming of her return. All the books say that she should be living happily ever after. But as Aurora understands all too well, the truth is nothing like the fairy tale.

Her family is long dead. Her “true love” is a kind stranger. And her whole life has been planned out by political foes while she slept.

As Aurora struggles to make sense of her new world, she begins to fear that the curse has left its mark on her, a fiery and dangerous thing that might be as wicked as the witch who once ensnared her. With her wedding day drawing near, Aurora must make the ultimate decision on how to save her kingdom: marry the prince or run.

Rhiannon Thomas weaves together vivid scenes of action, romance, and gorgeous gowns to reveal a richly imagined world…and Sleeping Beauty as she’s never been seen before.

I would really like this book sooner than later! I just love the idea that happily ever afters aren't always so happy. Call me a cynic if you want to, I won't mind. I think this sounds refreshing and I'm curious to see what she does with Sleeping Beauty!

What are you waiting on this week?  I wanna know!

Retellings have been hit or miss with me, but this one sounds pretty great. I love the cover too. I'll definitely be adding it to my TBR list. Great pick!

This is my WoW pick too! I'm a big fan of fairy tale retellings and I like the idea of this one picking up after Aurora wakes up and having her adjust to this new life that isn't so happily-ever-after.

I hadn't heard of this one yet but I love this whole idea. There's so much more to fairy tales than what we learned from Disney. I can't wait to read what happens to Aurora. And I wouldn't call you a cynic, I'd call you a realist. :-)

Is it bad I now want to read this just because of Once Upon a Time? Sounds fun though!

This sounds awesome. I actually just saw this for the first time. Retellings are often hit or miss for me, but I do love the idea of a continuation--and that happily ever after isn't always how the story ends. Great pick!
