[Waiting On Wednesday: A Mad, Wicked Folly]

Waiting On Wednesday happens every week on Wednesdays (hence the name) and is hosted by Breaking The Spine.  It's were people talk about the books they want to read about that aren't out yet.

My pick this week is...

"A Mad, Wicked Folly"
Author: Sharon Biggs Waller
Release Date: January 23rd, 2014

--------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

Welcome to the world of the fabulously wealthy in London, 1909, where dresses and houses are overwhelmingly opulent, social class means everything, and women are taught to be nothing more than wives and mothers. Into this world comes seventeen-year-old Victoria Darling, who wants only to be an artist—a nearly impossible dream for a girl.

After Vicky poses nude for her illicit art class, she is expelled from her French finishing school. Shamed and scandalized, her parents try to marry her off to the wealthy Edmund Carrick-Humphrey. But Vicky has other things on her mind: her clandestine application to the Royal College of Art; her participation in the suffragette movement; and her growing attraction to a working-class boy who may be her muse—or may be the love of her life. As the world of debutante balls, corsets, and high society obligations closes in around her, Vicky must figure out: just how much is she willing to sacrifice to pursue her dreams?

This book sounds so good!  Okay, so it also sounds like a really well conceived soap opera, but I like those too!  It seems like it's going to put a twist on things with the whole nude art and what not.  Plus, the book takes place in London and I love me some London.  Basically, this one sounds awesome and I'm going to get it!

What are you waiting on this week?  I wanna know!

I like books set in London, too, especially during the Victorian Era. When I read the synopsis I thought it's a tad predictable - a rigid society when it comes to change and the young girl who shakes the spirits -, but it does sound like a nice, relaxing read.

I can't wait for this one! Historical Fiction isn't really my ally but I do enjoy them once in a while.

Great pick!

Yes! I'm not a pronounced fan of historical fiction, but I've been reading it lately... AND this one looks SO good!

Thanks for stopping by!
